Make a payment

Online banking

We can accept online or telephone bank transfers for all payments.

When making payment by bank transfer, please use the following:

Pay by phone

You can make a debit or credit card payment through our secure automated payment service, available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Calls are charged at a local rate : 0300 456 0536

This service does not issue a payment receipt but does quote a payment reference number which we would advise you to make a note of so it might be handy for you to have a pen and paper available when you call.

Pay by post

Please send cheques and postal orders to the service that issued the payment request. This information can usually be found on any correspondence that we’ve sent.

If you are unsure, please send the payment to:

Post-dated cheques will not be  accepted.

Please make your cheque payable to Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council.

Always remember to write the appropriate reference number on the back of your cheque and include your name and address in any correspondence.

You should allow 5-7 working days for bank processing and/or postal delivery. Failure to do so could result in you losing the right to pay by instalments and additional costs being added to your account.

Please do not send cash through the post.

Paypoint

Cash payments can be made at any Post Office or PayPoint outlets for the following:

  • Business rates
  • Council tax
  • Housing benefit overpayments
  • Invoices
  • Penalty charge notices

You should take your bill, penalty charge notice or invoice, along with your payment, and the cashier will scan the barcode on the document.
