Burial and cremation records

The Council manages three cemeteries and a crematorium.

All records can be accessed for a small fee on the Deceased Online website.

Records include:

  • Blackburn Cemetery (aka Whalley New Road): 1859 - 1997
  • Darwen Cemetery: 1861 - 1998
  • Pleasington Cemetery: 1969 - 2001
  • Pleasington Crematorium: 1957 - 2003

In most instances, the records comprise of:

  • digital scans of burial or cremation registers
  • grave details indicating all those buried within each grave
  • maps indicating the section of a cemetery or burial ground where lairs are located
  • some photographs of memorials

The total number of individual burials across the three cemeteries are over 276,000 with over 63,000 cremations for the periods indicated above.
