Birth registration

Coronavirus: important information

Birth registrations

The government announced that from the 01 June you can now register your baby’s birth but this must still take place in person by law. We need to get the register office covid-19 secure before we can reopen and arrange an appointment for you. We are working hard to do this, but keeping you and our staff safe is our priority. As soon as we know the date, we will let you know.

The Government have relaxed the 42-day limit on registering a birth – so if you need to register a birth, please do not do anything for now.

Claiming child benefit

The government has updated their guidance on claiming Child Benefit.

If you are not able to register the birth of your child because of coronavirus (COVID-19), you can still make a claim to receive Child Benefit.
