Birth registration

Coronavirus: important information

Birth registrations

The government announced that from the 01 June you can now register your baby’s birth where it is safe to do so but this must still take place in person by law.

Blackburn with Darwen Register Office have now put provisions in place and will be undertaking birth registrations at the Northgate Suite, Northgate, Blackburn from Monday 20 July 2020.

To book an appointment please email your name, place of child(ren)’s birth and date of child(ren)’s birth to registration.officers@blackburn.gov.uk and a registrar will be in contact with you to make an appointment.

Please note that currently we are only able to offer appointments for babies born within the borough of Blackburn with Darwen if your child was born elsewhere please contact the register office for that district.

If you are unable to get an appointment straight away, families can now make a claim for child benefit or universal credit prior to the birth being registered, where you have not been able to do so because of the pandemic. Please visit www.gov.uk for further information.
