The housing benefit/Local Housing Allowance scheme is a means tested benefit so we need to know about you and your household before we can calculate any award.
To do this, you will be asked to provide evidence of your identity, rent (if applicable), income, savings and that of your household. This is to make sure the claim is verified and the correct amount of benefit awarded.
Examples of things we might need to see are:
- Proof of your identity (this must be two forms of identity for each person, one of which must include your national insurance number)
- Your most recent payslips
- Your tenancy agreement
- Recent bank statement
When you apply online, you will be advised of what information is needed to support your claim.
