Opening times
From 1st March 2018 both the Blackburn and Darwen sites will be closed one day a week:
- Darwen: Tuesday
- Blackburn: Wednesday
Otherwise the sites are open everyday (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day) on the following times:
- 8am - 7pm 1 April - 30 September
- 8am - 5pm 1 October - 31 March

There are recycling centres (tips) in both Blackburn and Darwen.

Before you come
Please separate out your rubbish for recycling before you visit the site - this saves money on burying recyclable items and helps protect our environment.
With your help we are recycling about 70% of all refuse taken to these sites.
Van or trailer permits
If you use a van to move rubbish, you will need a permit to enter the HWRC.

Battery recycling
Some high street stores will now take back used batteries to recycle. Please ask store staff if you cannot see a collection container in the store.
